Title: Opportunities offered by a new food strategy
Abstract: Anna will set out the Food Foundation's ambitions for the new government food strategy, including making the case for a Good Food Bill as an important step toward securing a food system which delivers improved public health, environmental outcomes, and resilience. Anna will discuss both policy and politics, the challenges of building political leadership and where academics can help.
Anna Taylor joined The Food Foundation as Executive Director in 2015, following five years at the Department for International Development (DFID). At DFID Anna led the policy team on nutrition and supported the delivery of the UK's global commitments to tackle undernutrition. Prior to joining DFID, Anna worked at several international organisations including Save the Children and UNICEF and has been at the forefront of international leadership on nutrition for several years, supporting programmes in a wide range of contexts in Africa and South Asia.
In 2014, Anna was awarded an OBE for her work to address the global burden of undernutrition. Anna has an MSc in Human Nutrition from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. Anna is a member of the London Food Board, a board member of VegPower, and an adviser to the International Food Policy Research Institute. She served as Chief Independent Adviser to Henry Dimbleby for the development of the National Food Strategy, published in 2021.
