Professor Clavin's research focuses on the history of international and transnational relations in the Twentieth Century.
Her research interests include:
- History of regional and global organizations, and international activism
- History of Food
- History of Capitalism
Currently she is examining human security, strongly tied to questions of food security. In particular when, and in what ways, do people begin to conceive of a ‘global food system’, why, and with what results. She has put together a global network of researchers on the topic 'Sustainable Pasts and Resilient Futures', and is also working on a project entitled 'Histories and Futures of Global Order' which includes an explicit strand on ideas and practices of Food Security in relation to International and Non-Governmental Institutions in the 20th and 21st Century.
